As part of a larger whole home renovation, this living room received a modern upgrade in every way. We started by removing the old, out of commission fireplace & added an addition to that side of the house to gain about 4 feet of width in the living room. This allowed for the furniture layout to be flipped, creating better flow. A two-sided fireplace was used between the kitchen/dinette & the living room. This fireplace is a zero clearance unit, so it allowed for wood slats & the TV buildout to be tight to the unit. The wood slats from the fireplace were continued down the hall but with openings to keep the space more airy. Flanking the fireplace is back-painted glass that wraps both sides & hides the entertainment equipment.
A custom made sectional was used not only for looks but to maximize the seating. Copper accents were used throughout - in the table, art, drapery hardware & pillow fabric. Motorized window coverings were also used to enhance the functionality.
